Project Description

Investment in Dovetail Games by Alcuin

dovetail-alcuinHMT LLP led by Partner Paul Read undertook financial due diligence for Alcuin Capital Partners (“Alcuin”) on their investment in simulation games provider Dovetail Games (“Dovetail”).

Established in 2009, Dovetail Games is a market-leader in the development and publishing of simulation entertainment products. Initially responsible for producing the Train Simulator series of products on PC, Dovetail has expanded its range of games to include flight and fishing simulation games, available for both PC and console.

The company has grown from 7 employees to over 130 people based across two locations in Kent and Scotland since its launch.  Dovetail Games is an award winning company, ranked in the Sunday Times Hiscox Tech Track 100 in 2015.

Alcuin has made a multi-million pound growth capital investment into the business. The investment will enable Dovetail Games to develop a range of new products due to be released next year.

HMT led by Paul Read undertook financial due diligence for Alcuin on this transaction.

Mark Storey, Founding Partner at Alcuin Capital commented:

“Dovetail Games is just the sort of ambitious, growing, international business that we like to support. We know hobbies make great investments having backed Games Workshop almost 25 years ago. We would like to thank Paul Read and his team at HMT for the detailed and comprehensive Financial Due Diligence, giving us great comfort on the quality of the business.”

Paul Read commented:

We are delighted to have advised Alcuin on their investment in Dovetail. With the expanding product offering, new products to be released next year and Alcuin’s support, Dovetail is in great position to continue its strong growth. We wish the business every success and look forward to working with them again in the future.”
