Management buyout of Bottlegreen
HMT, led by partner Andrew Thomson, acted as reporting accountants for Piper Private Equity and HSBC in their funding of the management buyout of Woodchester Enterprises Limited trading as Bottlegreen.
Mr Simon Speers, Managing Director, was appointed to allow the founders to step back from the business with a view to its subsequent disposal. Mr Speers, together with Mr Nick Clay (Finance Director), Mr Paul Martin (Operations Director) and Mr Stephen Davies (Non Executive Chairman), saw the opportunity to build on Bottlegreen’s current success, and successfully completed the MBO.
Operating from Frogmarch Mill near Stroud, Bottlegreen manufactures a variety of quality cordials and ready to drink soft drinks under the Bottlegreen, Duchy of Cornwall, Bon Grape and Blossom Cottage brands, the core flavour being elderflower. These are sold across the UK by major retailers, including Waitrose, Tesco and Sainsbury, with a growing overseas market.
Andrew Thomson commented:
“The Management team have huge experience of the market and have been instrumental in Bottlegreen’s recent success. We believe that the MBO and the ongoing growth in the market provides them with an exciting base from which to build on their current success”.
